the solution! Backup to tape drives, CD-ROMs, ZIP drives and even
Floppy Disks. Some programs provide backup solutions for the
program data (i.e.) QuickBooks and PeachTree. Most
"database" programs that share information between users does not have
automated and simple backup included with the program. For programs that do not provide
data/file backup, develop a

~ Battery power backup, known as "UPS" solutions are
good. Over buy! Servers need large UPS solutions.
Workstations that can be shutdown during power-outs can be equipped with
medium size units that provide time to do the shutdown. Programs
need to be closed first and then the entire workstation should be
shutdown and turned off.
In your planning, do NOT forget about network hubs, switches and routers
and internet connectivity devices like DSL and Cable Modems. Limit
one computer or server per UPS unit.
UPS devices have batteries! Replace UPS units or batteries
regularly!
When productivity needs to continue even during power failures then an
automated generator solution is required. The generator needs to
be serviced and maintained to provide this level of reliability.

Virus and "Worm" infection(s)
~ The infections result from
receiving infected email, using the world-wide-web and/or just being on
a network. The solution is to have good Anti-Virus protection
software, installed before any infections happened, or after cleaning
virus and worms from the computer. The virus protection software
does little good if it is not updated with the latest definitions.
Updates can be automated, the user needs to check that updates are
